WILMINGTON, N.C. --The Seahawks host Toledo in a brief two-game midweek series beginning on Tuesday at Brooks Field. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
This week's series with Toledo is part of a season-high nine-game homestand for the Seahawks, who stand at just 6-5 at home.
UNCW won its series with Valparaiso over the weekend but dropped the finale, 10-8, as the Crusaders struck for five runs in the top of the eighth inning to erase an 8-5 deficit.
Cole Weiss drove in eight runs during the Valpo series and twice drove in the go-ahead runs in UNCW's doubleheader sweep of the Crusaders on Saturday. Weiss is tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association with 13 runs batted on the young season.
Greg Jones stole four bases and scored four runs on Sunday to raise his conference-leading run total to 15. Jones also tied the UNCW single-game record with his four stolen bases.
Landen Roupp and Zarion Sharpe will make their third and second starts, respectively, this series. Roupp tied his career high with eight strikeouts last week in a start at fourth-ranked North Carolina and over the week he picked up his first career save. Sharpe, meanwhile, made his return to the rotation over the weekend with a predetermined two-inning start against Valpo.
The Seahawks continue their homestand this weekend with three games against Siena. The two will play a doubleheader on Sunday and a single game on Sunday.
