Allen takes Home CAA Pitching Honors

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior Cooper Allen improved to 5-0 with a dominant win over William & Mary and was named Coastal Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Allen, who earned the honor earlier this season on Feb. 23, held the Tribe to one hit, a solo homer in the sixth inning, walked two, and struck out nine in a 22-1 rout on Saturday.

Allen leads the league with a 1.32 earned run average in seven starts while limiting opponents to a .166 batting average and owns a 0.74 WHIP, ranking 11th nationally.

Seahawk pitchers Allen, Connor Marshburn and Bromley Thornton have combined to earn CAA honors four times this season. The staff leads the conference with a 3.48 earned run average and a .214 opponent batting average.

UNCW opens a season-long nine-game road swing on Mar. 31 at East Carolina. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
