Wilmington College enjoyed tremendous success as a baseball power in the early 1960's and David Miller was one of the primary reasons.

Miller, a second baseman, ignited UNCW's national championship run in 1961 and helped the Seahawks finish second in 1962. In the process, he collected first-team All-America honors in 1961 and third-team All-America laurels one year later.

Following his accomplishments in the Port City, Miller went on to propel Wake Forest to the Atlantic Coast Conference title in 1963. The Woodruff, S.C., product earned All-America honors once again in 1963, and was drafted by the New York Mets in 1964.

Miller played professionally for the Mets briefly before returning to UNCW as an assistant coach for Brooks from 1965-78.

In addition to his athletic accolades, Miller held various positions on campus. He served as Chairman of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department, Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/Enrollment Manager and is currently Director of Summer School.
