A powerful swimmer with a knack for competing, Adrienne Sutton was a force in the water for the Seahawks during her swimming career in the late 1990s.
The Woodstown, N.J., product competed for the Seahawks from 1997-2000 and won 14 gold medals in CAA competition. She led Coach Dave Allen’s team to conference crowns in both 1998 and 1999.
Sutton was named CAA Rookie-of-the-Year in 1997 and CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer-of-the-Year in 1998. Overall, she captured nine individual titles and swam on five conference relay championships during her remarkable four-year run.
Sutton was especially tough to beat in the breaststroke, winning both the 100 and 200-yard events at the CAA meet three consecutive years from 1997-99. She also took the 400-yard Individual Medley race all three seasons as well.
The highly-decorated swimmer was selected to the CAA’s Silver Anniversary Team in 2009, signifying her as one of the top-25 swimmers in the history of the conference.
A four-time CAA Scholar-Athlete who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2000 and completed her PhD. from the University of Maryland.
