Volleyball Opens CAA Play At Campbell

Seahawks take on the defending conference champions on Friday and Saturday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNCW opens Coastal Athletic Association play this weekend when it visits defending conference champion Campbell on Friday at Gore Arena.

The series, which will be streamed on FloCollege, starts at 6 p.m. on Friday and concludes on Saturday with the first serve set for 2 p.m.

The Seahawks (5-7) split a pair of matches last weekend, falling at Winthrop before topping North Carolina Central. The Camels, meanwhile, dropped 2-of-3 in Greenville, N.C., with the win coming against Old Dominion.

The Camels earned their first conference crown last season and fell to sixth-seeded Texas A&M in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Seahawks continue to get their offense in tune after averaging a season-high 12.43 kills per set last weekend. That lifted the Seahawks into fifth in the league in hitting average at .204. Leading the charge are Courtney Graham and Gaby Zovko, who ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in the conference in hitting average.

UNCW continues conference play next weekend when it hosts Northeastern on Oct. 2-3, which will also be Alumni Weekend.
