Career-Highs For Wasilewski and Murphy In Win

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Nadia Wasilewski and Elaina Murphy combined for 30 kills as UNCW erased an opening-set deficit to knock off North Carolina Central 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-20) in volleyball action Saturday at the Winthrop Coliseum.

The Seahawks snapped a brief three-match skid with the WIN to improve to 5-7, while the Eagles saw their losing streak climb to eight, and their record slide to 2-8.

Wasilewski finished with a career-best 16 kills and a .577 hitting average, while Murphy's 14 kills were also a career high, and she finished with a .344 average.

At the net, where UNCW held an 8-2 lead in blocks, Courtney Graham collected eight kills and six blocks.

Setter Gaby Zovko handed out 42 assists as UNCW hit .325 for the match, and she notched her fourth double-double with 10 digs.

Kayla Riley paced the Eagles with 15 kills, and Talia Emmen added 13.

In the opening set, the Seahawks used a 6-0 run to move to within one, 17-16, but NCCU used a 3-0 run to gain separation on its way to a 25-20 win.

Wasilewski's eight kills in eight swings led the Seahawks out of the gates early in the second as UNCW tied the match at 1-all with a 25-13 victory.

UNCW grabbed a 2-1 lead after holding off a late surge from the Eagles for a 25-23 win.

In the clinching set, the Seahawks combined to hit .333, with eight different Seahawks recording a kill.

Murphy and Zovko were named the all-tournament team.
