WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW Athletics had another record-breaking year as the Seahawk Club surpassed $10 million in donations during the 2026 fiscal year. With the contributions from supporters, alumni and friends, the department brought in $10,102,270 from July 1st through June 30th. This was a $2 million improvement from the previous record-setting year.
 
"Having three years of record-breaking fundraising is a direct result of the passion of the UNCW community," said Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger. "Our student-athletes represent UNCW with pride and embody what it means to be a Seahawk. We are incredibly grateful for everyone's generosity to help reach this milestone." 
 
Since Oblinger's arrival in Wilmington, the Seahawks broke the fundraising record for three consecutive years. The increased growth in philanthropy from 2023 until now is over 276%. The Seahawk Club also recorded the most major gift commitments along with receiving the most annual fund support in school history.
 
With the help of the Seahawk Club, UNCW Athletics provides the best experience for student-athletes. Contributions have led to improvements in all areas including increased athletic scholarships as well as operational support for teams and facilities. 
 
"This is a tremendous milestone for the Seahawk Club and UNCW Athletics," said Associate Athletics Director for Development Adam Fearing.  "As we celebrate this win for our programs, I immediately think of the generosity of our Seahawk Club members and what an impactful difference they continue to make for our student-athletes. Our Seahawks are special because of our supporters, and so many answered the call this year. We are extremely grateful."
