Seahawk Club Shatters Fundraising Mark

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Seahawk Club has announced it raised a record $4,019,746 during the 2024 fiscal year, a 50% increase from the previous year.

"We are encouraged by the large step forward our supporters have allowed us to take this year. I'd like to thank our Seahawk Club members for their generosity," said Seahawk Club Executive Director Adam Fearing. "Our staff of Justin Carson, Logan Martinez and Samantha Cleary works diligently throughout the year to garner support, and we are all ecstatic to see this generous response from our donors."

That number encompasses gifts received (paid throughout July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024) as well as future commitments secured within that time frame.

Fiscal Year 2024 by the Numbers:
$1,506,200 = Multi-Year Major Gift Commitments
$1,318,409 = Annual Fund (General/Sport Specific Scholarship Funds)
$1,195,137 = Event Revenue/Other Gifts

The 2024 amount eclipsed the previous record mark of $3,867,045 raised during the 2018 fiscal year.

"Since I arrived in Wilmington, I've been impressed with the tremendous support Seahawk Nation," said Michael Oblinger, UNCW's Director of Athletics. "We won five Coastal Athletic Association Championships for a second consecutive year and there's a direct correlation between the support and success. We've focused on raising the student-athlete experience and the support we receive goes a long way to that area."

Historically, the Seahawk Club's focal point has been the annual scholarship fund for the department of athletics. Since 2014, the scholarship goal has been reached every year, and in 2024, the goal was a record high of $1.25 million.
