Beach Volleyball Drops Two To Ranked Opponents

DELAND, Fla. – UNCW dropped two duals to nationally-ranked Stetson (4-1) and North Florida (3-2) on Friday at the DeLand Cup, hosted by Stetson.

The Seahawks fell to 11-19 with the two losses and have dropped four of their last five.

Against 14th-ranked Stetson, Lyvia Trimp and Gracie Sistrunk earned the only UNCW win of the match, taking the top-pairing match, 21-15, 21-13 against Stetson's Maria Ozaeta and Marta Carro.

Trimp and Sistrunk pushed their record to 21-7 with another win against 18th-ranked North Florida. The duo earned a three-set victory with a 15-8 win in the tiebreaker against Mackenzie Murphy and Cameron Humphries.

Gabby LaPata and Sarah Thompson posted a three-set win at the second pairing with a 15-9 victory in the tiebreaker.

The Seahawks close out the regular season with two duals on Saturday against #13 South Carolina and Georgia State.
