Sandy Hawks Split Senior Day Duals

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW celebrated Senior Day by splitting two duals with the College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina on Saturday at Capt'n Bill's Backyard Grill and Volleyball Facility.

The Seahawks saw the record go to 11-17 with the split. UNCW topped the College of Charleston, 5-0, earning its sixth win of the season against the Cougars. In falling to Coastal, the Seahawks are 0-3 against the SBC rivals.

Against CCU, the two sides split the first four matches before the final point was determined on court three with CCU's Maya McNabney and Courtney Burham knocking off Alivia Hamel and Alise Barbour, 21-18, 21-17 for a 3-2 win.

The Seahawks extended their winning streak against Charleston to 18 duals with their first shutout, 5-0, of a Division I opponent this season. Lyvia Trimp and Gracie Sistrunk opened the blanking with a three-set win at the number one pairing.

Keenen Engebretson and Traci Schrock clinched the dual at number four by fashioning a 21-19, 21-19 straight-set win.

The Seahawks close out the regular season Apr. 17-18 at the Deland Cup, hosted by Stetson, in Deland, Fla.
