SandyHawks Split 3-2 Decisions

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW split a pair of 3-2 duals on Friday, topping the College of Charleston and falling to Coastal Carolina at the Shoreline Sports Complex.

The Seahawks, who are playing their final home duals of the season, moved to 10-16 with the split against Sun Belt Conference rivals.

Against CofC, the freshman pairing of Keenan Engebretson and Courtney Jenson topped Carr and Patrick, 21-17, 21-12, to produce the clinching point at the number five pairing.

In the loss to Coastal, it came down to the fifth pairing again as the Chants earned the 3-2 win with a 23-21, 21-9 victory by Kristyna Klobizkova and Olivia Pippin.

UNCW went undefeated at the top two pairings of Lyvia Trimp and Gracie Sistrunk at the top pair and Gabby LaPataand Sarah Thompson at the second pairing.

The tournament resumes at Capt'n Bill's Backyard Grill and Volleyball Facility on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Seahawks and Coastal Carolina. UNCW will play Charleston at 3 p.m.
