Beach Volleyball Swept In Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii – UNCW dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, losing to nationally-ranked Hawaii (5-0) and San Jose State (3-2) to close out the Heineken Queens Cup.

The Seahawks slid to 3-9 on the season with the two losses.

Against San Jose State, Lyvia Trimp and Gracie Sistrunk gave UNCW a 1-0 lead with a 21-11, 21-9 win at the first pairing.

SJSU, though, answered with wins on courts three and five for the 2-1 lead, and on court four, Sabrina Moore and Anna Salmon ended the match for the Spartans. The duo fashioned a straight-set win over Sarah Thompson and Sophie Puhala, 21-18, 21-17.

UNCW's Gabby LaPata and Hannah Parkinson won on court two, 24-22, 22-20, to make the final score, 3-2

The Seahawks return stateside and will compete next weekend against Jacksonville and Boise State on Mar. 13 in Columbia, S.C.
