Jones Named To Wallace Award Watch List

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW graduate student Kevin Jones has been named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

Jones was a second-team All-Coastal Athletic Association selection as a senior and earned preseason All-CAA honors this season. In 2025, he hit .294 with 13 extra base hits, including five home runs. He scored 54 runs and knocked in 32. Defensively, he fielded .949 with 12 errors while starting all 58 games.

The Seahawks host East Carolina on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
