CAA Tabs Hamilton as Rookie of the Week

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW softball pitcher Camille Hamilton has earned Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week following another stellar performance in the circle.

Hamilton, who earns her third CAA weekly honor and second Rookie distinction after the league named her Pitcher of the Week last week, went 1-1 with a 0.98 ERA with 10 strikeouts across 14.1 innings of work.

The Garner, N.C., native tossed a pair of complete games against Elon last weekend in which she split a pair of pitchers' duels with Phoenix junior, Anna Dew, the CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Hamilton recorded a one-hit shutout on Sunday as the Seahawks salvaged the series finale with a 1-0 win behind its freshman hurler, who notched five strikeouts in the effort.

The 6-1 right-hander limited the Phoenix to two runs across seven innings in the series opener on Friday night with four strikeouts following a brief scoreless appearance in a mid-week matchup at Duke.

UNCW hosts Charleston this weekend for a key CAA South Division series from Mar. 27-29.
