D1 Softball Honors Hamilton Following Perfect Game

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW pitcher Camille Hamilton has been named the Mid-Major Freshman of the Week by D1 Softball following an impressive weekend that included a perfect game at North Carolina A&T last Friday.

Hamilton, who was also Coastal Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, tossed the first perfect game in UNCW history last Friday against the Aggies. The Garner, N.C. native threw a career-high six innings with a personal best 11 strikeouts on 69 pitches, with no ball leaving the infield.

The right-hander then closed out the sweep in UNCW's first CAA series on Sunday with 3.1 scoreless innings for her second win of the week, bringing her weekend strikeout total to 16.

Hamilton is 6-2 with a 2.30 ERA this season with 56 strikeouts across 45.2 innings along with a pair of saves.

The Seahawks travel to play Duke later Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network.
