Beach Volleyball Knocks Off Charleston In Sun Belt Play

COLUMBIA, S.C. – UNCW defeated the College of Charleston for a third time this season on Saturday, 4-1, at the Carolina Challenge at the Wheeler Beach Courts.

The Seahawks, who also lost 4-1 to South Carolina later in the day, moved to 4-12 this season and 1-0 in the SBC.

At second doubles, Gabby LaPata and Hannah Parkinson handled their match in straight sets (21-15, 21-7), and Alivia Hamel and Sophie Puhala posted a win at the fourth pairing for a 2-0 Seahawk lead.

Gracie Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp clinched the match at number one doubles with a 21-18, 21-11 victory.

UNCW visits the College of Charleston for a tournament beginning with Erskine College on Mar. 20 at 9 a.m.
