Early Season Volleyball Show Down This Weekend

The Seahawks (3-1) host conference-leading Hofstra (6-0) on Friday at 6 p.m.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Riding a three-match winning streak, UNCW hosts conference-leading Hofstra at Hanover Hall for a pair of Coastal Athletic Association volleyball matches beginning on Friday.

The Seahawks stand at 3-1 and are in third place behind the Pride and the College of Charleston, who both have opened conference play with six straight wins. Friday's series opener will be streamed on both FloCollege and its channel on Amazon Prime. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

UNCW swept Northeastern last weekend for the first time since 2015 behind stellar play from CAA Player of the Week Nadia Wasilewski and Rookie of the Week Elaina Murphy. The sweep pushed the Seahawks to 8-8 overall this season, marking their best start since 2023, when they also opened at 8-8.

Friday will be the first day of an annual food drive for Hawk's Harvest, which benefits UNCW's on-campus food pantry for enrolled students experiencing food insecurity. The volleyball and swimming and diving programs are accepting donations beginning this weekend and through Oct. 14's volleyball match with Coastal Carolina.
