Jayaraman Sets UNCW Freshman Mark

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Freshman Ava Jayaraman's UNCW freshman record toss of 42-9 1/2 feet in the Shot Put highlighted the Seahawks return to action at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge.

The record throw, which also ranked fourth all-time in program history, was joined by seven other performances that landed in the UNCW record books.

On Saturday, Malaila Williamson (41.03 seconds) and Carly Gordinier (12-01 1/4) moved into the sixth in the 300 Meters and Pole Vault, respectively.

Next up for the Seahawks will be the Tryon College Banked Invitational on Jan. 30, in Mill Spring, N.C.
