Men's Basketball Signs Durr, Walsh

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's basketball Head Coach Takayo Siddle continues to add to the 2025-26 roster with the signings of guard Madison Durr and forward Gavin Walsh.

"Madison and Gavin are both players who are exuberant competitors and high-character individuals, who fit right into our championship culture," said Siddle, who will enter his sixth season as UNCW's bench boss.

Durr spent 2024-25 at Monmouth, where he started all 33 games and averaged 12.5 points. The 6-5, 195-pound Durr reached double figures scoring 21 times and was the Coastal Athletic Association's 12th-leading scorer in conference games at 14.7 ppg.

The Atlanta, Ga., native became the CAA's first 40-point scorer in over two years with 40 points on 10-of-11 shooting and a perfect 19-for-19 from the line in a Jan. 30 104-97 double-overtime win against Drexel.

Durr's perfect performance at the line set a new CAA record for most made free throws without a miss, on his way to becoming the 26th player in NCAA Division I history to knock down at least 19 free throws without a miss.

"Madison has proven himself in this league, and we are excited to help him grow and elevate his game this upcoming season," said Siddle. "His size, athleticism, and ability to lead will be valuable for us as at his position."

Before Monmouth, Durr spent two seasons at The Citadel, playing 64 games with 60 starts. He was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team in 2023.

Walsh spent two years at Binghamton, where he was a 2025 All-America East Third-Team selection after being the lone league player to average a double-double (11.3 ppg, 10.9 rpg).

The Baltimore, Md., product produced 14 double-doubles (T-18th in NCAA Division I), pulled down at least 14 rebounds 10 times and reached double figures on 19 occasions, highlighted by a season-high 21 points at Miami on Nov. 10.

"We are very excited to have Gavin join our program. He has an extremely high motor and competes at both ends of the floor," said Siddle. "Gavin is a Swiss Army knife type of player who plays with an unmatched edge and toughness. He will have an immediate impact on our team."

After ascending to the starting lineup as a sophomore, the 6-8 Walsh became one of the top rebounders in the country, ranking fifth in the nation in total rebounds per game (10.9) and second in defensive rebounds (8.8 p/g).

Durr and Walsh join fellow transfers Jahnathan Lamothe and Christian May as newcomers to the reigning Coastal Athletic Association champions ahead of next season.
