WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's men's basketball, men's soccer and women's soccer programs have been recognized by the Coastal Athletic Association with Academic Excellence Awards for posting the highest team grade point averages among conference schools in their respective sports.

The CAA Academic Excellence Awards recognize the team in each conference-sponsored sport that records the highest cumulative grade point average during the academic year. Men's basketball finished the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.25 GPA, while men's soccer posted a 3.60 GPA. Women's soccer led the department with a 3.75 GPA.

The honor marks the second consecutive season the women's soccer program has earned the CAA Academic Excellence Award.

As a department, UNCW student-athletes combined to post a school-record 3.571 GPA across all 19 varsity programs during the 2025-26 academic year. The women's soccer team's 3.75 GPA ranked third among all varsity teams on campus.
