Siddle Adds Lamothe, May for 2025-26

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's basketball Head Coach Takayo Siddle has begun to shape the 2025-26 roster with the additions of talented guard Jahnathan Lamothe and versatile wing Christian May.

Lamothe averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists for North Carolina A&T last season. The Baltimore, Md., native spent his freshman season at Maryland in 2023-24.

May spent the previous three seasons at Towson, where he posted 7.6 ppg and 4.3 rpg while starting 62 games in 94 appearances.

"Christian and Jahnathan are high-character young men who will bring leadership, competitiveness and strong basketball IQs to our team, along with a familiarity with our league," said Siddle. "Our staff deserves a lot of credit for identifying our kind of guys who will be a huge part of our success next season."

Lamothe and May become the first transfer portal additions this cycle for the reigning Coastal Athletic Association Champions.

An experienced guard, Lamothe started 30 of 32 games for the Aggies in 2024-25. The 6-4, 192-pound guard reached double figures 22 times. The versatile scorer surpassed 20 points on 10 occasions, including eight of his last 10 games to close the season.

Lamothe splashed three or more three-pointers in 10 games over the previous campaign. The rising junior also achieved eight double-doubles, highlighted by an impressive 20-point, 17-rebound game at Campbell on Feb. 10.

"Jahnathan is a talented guard who will add size, scoring, play-making and energy to our roster," said Siddle. "We are excited to help him elevate his game."

As a freshman, Lamothe played in 16 games and averaged 6.9 minutes for the Terrapins.

A four-star recruit out of St. Frances Academy, Lamothe ranked as the No. 3 recruit overall in Maryland and was as high as No. 105 nationally in the class of 2023, according to On3.

May produced 11 different double-digit scoring efforts, including a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds in a Jan. 9 win against Northeastern. The 6-5, 210-pound guard/forward started all 18 CAA games for the regular season champion Tigers and scored 12 points in the CAA Semifinal match versus Delaware.

"Christian's experience, skill set, versatility and toughness will be major additions to our team next season," said Siddle. "His ability to score, defend and play multiple positions will enhance our roster in a major way. Our staff is excited to work with Christian."

A native of Edinburg, Va., May started a career-high 33 games in 2023-24 and led Towson with a team-best 10.7 ppg. He registered back-to-back 20-plus point games in December 2023, with 27 points against Massachusetts and 24 against UMBC in a three-day span.

May was a prep standout at Bishop O'Connell High School, where he was tabbed the No. 13 recruit from the state of Virginia by 247Sports in the class of 2022. May earned 2019-20 All-Northern Virginia Sophomore Boys Private School Team accolades while at Bishop O'Connell.
