Beach Volleyball Tops CofC, Falls To Coastal

charleston, S.C. – In its final appearance before the Sun Belt Conference tournament later this month, UNCW split a pair of duals on Friday beating Charleston and losing to Coastal Carolina.

The Seahawks will carry a record of 18-7 overall and 11-3 against SBC members.

Against CofC, the Cougars forced the dual to go to the final match with a straight-set win at the fourth pairing. However, UNCW's top pairing of Gabby LaPata and Sarah Thompson cruised to a 21-14, 21-19 win to clinch the dual.

The win was UNCW's 12th straight against the Cougars, including all six duals during the regular season.

Coastal Carolina rallied with wins at the third and first pairings for a 3-2 win.

UNCW's Gracie Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp won both of their matches on Friday to increase their record to 24-1 and their winning streak to 19.

Next up for the Seahawks is the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Foley, Ala., on Apr. 24-26.
