UNCW Blanks ULM, Falls To Southern Miss

FOLEY, Ala. – UNCW blanked Louisiana Monroe, 5-0, to gain a split of Friday's action at the Mid-Year Sun Belt Duals at the Foley Beach Volleyball Complex.

UNCW saw its nine-dual winning streak halted earlier in the day when Southern Miss posted a 3-2 win with the winning point coming on court one as Gabby LaPata and Sarah Thompson fell in straight sets.

The Golden Eagles jumped in front, 2-0, with straight-set wins on courts four and five before Traci Schrock and Annika Thompson won on court three to narrow UNCW's deficit to 2-1.

Against ULM, the Seahawks posted straight-set victories at four of the five pairings.

Gracie Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp went 2-0 on the day to run their record to 16-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference. The pairing has won its last 11 matches.

For UNCW, it was the third shutout of the season.

The mid-year matches continue Saturday with the College of Charleston at 9 a.m. ET, followed by nationally-ranked Georgia State at 11 a.m. ET.
