WILMINGTON, N.C. – The beach volleyball season kicks off this weekend with the Seahawks heading to the Dolphin Duals in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Seahawks went 22-12 last season and reached the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. The league's coaches picked UNCW to finish third in the preseason poll.

UNCW opens the tournament on Saturday with matches against South Carolina and host Jacksonville.

Junior Gabby LaPata is UNCW's top returning player after recording a 26-8 record, all at the top pairing. Sarah Thompson finished with a 25-9 mark and Gracie Sistrunk stood at 24-10.

The Seahawks close out the weekend with matches against South Florida, which will be an exhibition, and North Florida on Sunday. USF will be an official NCAA program in 2026.

The Seahawks will host the College of Charleston on Feb. 28 in a doubleheader at the Shoreline Sports Complex.
