Sandyhawks See Two Move To Quarterfinals

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW saw two pairs advance to the quarterfinals of the Body Fortress UNCW Fall Beach Volleyball National Qualifier on Friday at Capt'n Bills Backyard Grill and Volleyball Facility.

Advancing to the quarterfinal round for UNCW were the pairings of Gracie Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp and Gabby LaPata and Hannah Parkinson.
Sistrunk and Trimp opened the event with a 2-0 mark in pool play and then upended South Florida's Cornelia Crudu and Emma Kate Stewart, 21-11, 18-21, 15-12, to advance to the next round.

LaPata and Parkinson, who was making her college debut, split their pool matches but swept the College of Charleston, 21-15, 22-20, in the opening round of elimination play.

Sistrunk and Trimp will face another USF pair while LaPata and Parkinson take on a pair from South Carolina.

Play continues Saturday with the Bid Division starting at 10 a.m.
