Shannon Earns All-CAA Preseason Honors

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW junior defender Jake Shannon has been named to the Coastal Athletic Association Men's Soccer Preseason Team as voted on by the league's 11 head coaches.

Shannon is a two-time All-CAA Third-Teamer who has played in all 33 games and all but one possible minute over the last two seasons for the Seahawks. The Apex, N.C., native has anchored a UNCW backline that has produced 17 shutouts in that span.

Shannon was named team captain (along with senior Josef Hefele and junior Ethan Newsome) prior to this season after recording six shots, four on goal, as a sophomore one season ago.

UNCW was picked seventh in the league's preseason poll while three-time defending champion Hofstra topped the CAA's predicted order of finish. Monmouth and Delaware also received first-place votes.

The Seahawks conclude preseason play vs. North Carolina on Friday at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
