Men's Soccer Stays Undefeated in CAA Play

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Freshman Cameron Keay's game-winning header in the 78th minute helped the UNCW men's soccer team secure a 2-1 victory at Charleston in Sunday night Coastal Athletic Association action at Patriots Point.

The Seahawks, who received votes for three straight weeks in the United Soccer Coaches poll, remained undefeated in league play with one win over all four CAA South Division opponents and stand 7-1-1 overall. 

The Cougars fell to 1-2-1 in the CAA and 5-2-2 overall.

Keay, the two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, secured his first career game-winner on a header crossed into the box by sophomore Benjamin Gooding. The goal was initially waved off for offside before video review confirmed Keay was onside, putting UNCW ahead with under 12 minutes to go.

Gooding also assisted on the Seahawks' first goal of the season on a corner kick that was headed into the top left of the goal by sophomore Lucas Siikala, who recorded a career-high four shot attempts.

Charleston evened the score in the 51st minute with an unassisted goal by Arnau Olle.

The teams combined for 24 shots and eight corner kicks.

UNCW resumes its season on the road at nationally ranked Clemson at 7 p.m.
