Men's Soccer Falls in Ranked Matchup

CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 9 Clemson's Alessio Andreottola's four-point day turned back visiting No. 20 UNCW, 4-1, in a Top 25 men's soccer matchup on Friday night at Historic Riggs Field.

The Tigers improved to 8-2-0 while the Seahawks fell to 7-2-1 in the third meeting between the Carolina region schools in the last four seasons.

Andreottola had a foot in all three Clemson second-half Clemson goals, with a 55-minute game-winning goal assisted by Mateo Tsakiris and Remi Okunlola before he and Okunlola proved the helpers on Duncan Wilson's 67th-minute goal.

The Fort Lewis transfer then picked up a second assist on Ransford Gyan's strike two minutes later to secure the 4-1 verdict.

An Olafur Floki Stephensen first half goal erased an early penalty kick goal by UNCW's Bryan Miralrio.

The Tigers held an 18-7 shot advantage.

The Seahawks close out non-conference play on Tuesday at home against Winthrop.
