UNCW Opens CAA Tournament With Delaware

The Seahawks begin their title defense at 7 p.m. on Thursday

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks will take on Delaware at 7 p.m. on Thursday in their opening game of the Coastal Athletic Association baseball tournament at Brooks Field.

The Blue Hens, who earned the fourth seed in the tournament field, knocked off William & Mary, 7-3, to move into the winner's bracket.

UNCW dropped its last conference series of the season at Delaware last weekend. The Blue Hens walked off the Seahawks in the first two games. The Seahawks, however, averted a sweep with an 8-5 win in the finale.

In the second game of Wednesday's schedule, Hofstra outslugged Northeastern, 12-9, to move into the winner's bracket.

Northeastern and William & Mary meet in an elimination game at 11 a.m. to open Thursday's schedule. Top-seeded College of Charleston faces Hofstra at 3 p.m. followed by the Blue Hens and Seahawks in the day's finale.
