Series Goes To Campbell As UNCW Falls In Finale

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell overcame an early 5-2 deficit to upend UNCW, 7-5, to win the Coastal Athletic Association series on Sunday at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Camels earned the series win and jumped to 23-12 overall and 16-2 in the league. The Seahawks, who have now dropped back-to-back conference series, slid to 20-15 and 9-6.

Campbell plated two in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. The Camels took advantage of three walks in the inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch and a sac fly.

Zach Sabers (1-2) was credited with the win, and Braxton Shaffer recorded his first save.

Trent Rumley doubled, scored twice, and knocked in two for the Camels.

Trevor Lucas doubled and scored twice for the Seahawks, and Jake Bechtel hit his sixth homer of the season.

Clay Masonis (0-2) took the loss in relief.

UNCW managed just two hits over the final seven innings.

UNCW next visits North Carolina on Apr. 14 for a 6 p.m. start.
