Six-Run Seventh Dooms Baseball

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 1-all tie on its way to a 7-3 win over UNCW on Saturday at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Camels (22-12) improved to 15-2 in the conference with the home win, while the Seahawks moved to 20-14 and 9-5.

In the seventh, UNCW issued four walks, one intentional, and all four scored. Joey Morton's grand slam to left highlighted the Campbell frame as it took a 7-1 lead.

Campbell starter David Rossow (7-1) rolled through the UNCW lineup for eight innings. The righthander fanned 11, scattered four hits, and did not walk a batter.

UNCW starter Cooper Allen (5-2) dropped his second consecutive start.

Kevin Jones homered in the seventh for the only Seahawk run of the day.

Jones, JP Pennella, and Trevor Lucas had two hits apiece for UNCW.

The series wraps up on Sunday at 1 p.m.
