Sharkey, LaPata Named AVCA Top Flight

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's top pair of Sadie Sharkey and Gabby LaPata were honored by the America Volleyball Coaches Association as one of the top flights in the nation following a tremendous season for the Seahawks in 2024.

Sharkey and LaPata added this honor to their ledge for this season which includes Top Pair in the Sun Belt Conference and First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors.

In 2024, the pair posted a program-record 26 wins and went 11-2 in the SBC.

Top Flight awards recognize excellence in collegiate beach volleyball from all over the country and across all flights. Eligible pairs must compete in at least 15 matches together at a specific flight number and win at least 75% of their matches—regardless of the overall result of the dual.
