Trimp, Folks Win Twice On Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lyvia Trimp and Maddy Folks recorded a pair of wins on Saturday as UNCW split a pair of duals at the Palmetto Invitational, hosted by South Carolina.

The Seahawks raised their record to 15-8 on the season with the split. UNCW dropped a 4-1 decision to South Carolina, but swept Morehead State, 5-0, in its final dual of the day.

Trimp and Folks gained UNCW's lone win against the Gamecocks, winning 21-14, 21-19 over Riley Whitesides and Hannah Mackenhausen. Against Morehead, the duo improved to 13-10 with a 21-10, 21-15 victory against Shea Hefner and Sydney Wyman.

UNCW's win against MSU was clinched at number-one doubles by Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey in straight sets over Irene Wogenstahl and Bella Marita.

LaPata and Sharkey are 16-7 this season and 7-3 in their last 10 matches.

UNCW plays twice on Sunday beginning with a 9 a.m. start against UT Martin.
