Beach Volleyball Topped By Coastal In SBC Semifinal

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UNCW came up just short in its run at the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball championship on Saturday, falling 3-2 to Coastal Carolina at the Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex.

The Chanticleers improved to 27-9 and advanced to face nationally-ranked Georgia State in the finals. The Seahawks, meanwhile, fell to 22-12 with the loss. The 22 wins are the second most in the young program's history.

After seeing Coastal take the early lead, 1-0, on a win on court two, Ellie Bucci and Gracie Sistrunk evened the dual at 1-all with a straight-set 21-16, 21-17 on court two over Ellie Hanford and Emma Kunaus.

A win on court five by Coastal made it 2-1 Chants and the match was clinched by Martine Kragholm and Sarah Riedell on court one over UNCW's Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey.

Bri Haggerty and Sarah Thompson closed out the dual with a three-set win on court four.

Bucci and Sistrunk were named to the All-Tournament team.
