Beach Volleyball Cruises Into SBC Semifinals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UNCW powered past Louisiana Monroe, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Championship on Friday.

The Seahawks upped their record to 22-11 while the Warhawks, who lost twice to UNCW in the tournament, slumped to 16-19.

With wins on the first three courts, UNCW made quick work of ULM.

The pairing of Maddy Folks and Charlotte Cronister gave UNCW a 1-0 lead with a straight-set 21-15, 21-15 win on court two.

Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey extended the lead to 2-0, winning 21-15, 21-19 at the top pairing. With the win, both LaPata and Sharkey set a program single-season record with 25 wins.

The dual was clinched on court three by Ellie Bucci and Gracie Sistrunk, 21-17, 21-12.

The Seahawks face rival Coastal Carolina, who knocked off the Seahawks earlier in the championship, at 11 a.m. EST on Saturday.
