WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW's Corrie McLaughlin (women's basketball) and Sarah Rogillio (women's swimming and diving) will represent the school at the 2024 NCAA Inclusion Forum this week in Indianapolis.
The Inclusion Forum, which enters its 12th year, "will bring together leaders within higher education and intercollegiate athletics, including student-athletes, to engage in powerful programming and enhance efforts on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives" according to the NCAA website.
McLaughlin and Rogillio, who are accompanied by UNCW Academic Coordinator Ryan Sinnott, will spend Apr. 24-26 focusing on each of the NCAA Office of Inclusion's five core areas of disability, international, LGBTQ, race/ethnicity and women.
Keynote speakers at the event include South Carolina Head Women's Basketball Coach Dawn Staley, ESPN Basketball Analyst/Host LaChina Robinson, UCF professor of Business/Hip Hop/Sport Dr. C. Keith Harrison, and Los Angeles Times columnist LZ Granderson.
The forum will also introduce a new initiative, the inaugural Student-Athlete Symposium. Student-athletes will participate in programming to engage, equip, and empower them to actively participate and contribute to the DEIB initiatives within their teams, in their athletic departments, on their campuses and in their communities.
