Jones Takes Fourth In 200 IM At Cavalier Invite

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Rachel Jones finished fourth in the 200 IM to highlight day one of the Cavalier Invitational for UNCW on Friday at the Virginia Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Jones fourth-place finish was the best among four top-10 finishes for the Seahawks. She clocked in with a personal-best time of 2:03.97, ranking eighth all-time at UNCW.

Joining Jones with a top-10 finish in the 200 IM was freshman Lauren Sharp, who posted a time of 2:05.97 to finish seventh.

Emily Oettinger, a junior, took sixth in the 500 Free with a mark of 5:10.46.

Red-shirt freshman Bethany Tart was ninth in the 50 Free when she touched the wall in a time of 23.70 seconds, a season best.

The meet continues Saturday with the preliminaries at 11 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
