Klausen Named CAA Diver of the Year

Head Coach Guntoro tabbed swimming Coach of the Year

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW senior diver Courtney Klausen closed out her impressive career with the Seahawks by being named Diver of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Association for a third time while UNCW Head Coach Bobby Guntoro was tabbed as the Swimming Coach of the Year.

Klausen was named Diver of the Meet at the CAA Championships after winning the 3-meter competition and finishing as runner-up in the 1-meter. On the 3-meter, she recorded 302.10 points for the gold and later totaled 292.85 in taking gold on the 1-meter board. Klausen's top scores of the season came at Davidson when she posted NCAA B qualifying scores of 310.65 on the 3-meter and 305.70 on the 1-meter. Klausen concluded her career as the program's record holder in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter.

Guntoro, who was also named Coach of the Year on the men's side, helped the program to its first conference title since 2006. In winning the championship with 803 points, the Seahawks set a program record. Brooke Knicely (500 & 1650 Free) and Katie Knorr (400 IM) were gold medalists for the Seahawks and UNCW earned 15 All-CAA honors.
