Schoppa, Badrian Honored by CAA

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshmen Maura Schoppa and Ethan Badrian were honored by the Colonial Athletic Association as the league rookie swimmer and diver of the week, respectively, on Tuesday.

Schoppa, who ranks among the CAA's top 10 in four different events, owns the top times in the 100 and 200 Freestyle with times of 50.52 seconds and 1:49.64, respectively. She is seventh in the 50 Free (23.96) and is ninth in the 100 Fly (56.39). Schoppa has fashioned a medal count of five, including gold-medal efforts in the 100 Fly against Tennessee and in the 100 Free against William & Mary.

Badrian, meanwhile, ranks second in both boards this season. His mark of 283.05 is one of three scores he's posted this season that rank in the top 10 of the conference. On the 3-meter, Badrian has scored four of the top-five dives, including a mark of 320.20 against Army that ranks second on that board. Badrian has fashioned four scores over 300 points each this season on the 3-meter.

The Seahawks wrap up their fall schedule next week at the Gamecock Invitational on Nov. 16-18, in Columbia, S.C.
