UNCW Finishes Regular Season, Looks Forward To SBC Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. – UNCW dropped its final dual of the week, 4-1 to Coastal Carolina, but finished 2-2 at the Charleston Beach Classic on Saturday at it preps for the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Championships later this month.

The Seahawks carry a 19-10 record into the postseason and compiled a record of 10-3 against SBC conference membership.

Against Coastal, the Seahawks got a win from Sadie Sharkey and Gabby LaPata on court one, but the Chanticleers held serve on the rest of the courts. Two pairs went three sets for the Seahawks with Ellie Bucci and Gracie Sistrunk falling 16-14 in set three on court three. Jadyn Barry and Traci Schrock also went three sets before falling 16-14 in the final set.

UNCW swept Eastern Kentucky, 5-0, in Saturday's opening dual. The Seahawks posted straight-set wins on courts one through four and Barry and Schrock won 15-6 in set three to complete the sweep.

LaPata and Sharkey finished the regular season with a program record 22-7 record all coming at the top pairing in the lineup.

The Sun Belt Conference Tournament is Apr. 25-27 in Huntsville, Ala., and the Seahawks will learn their seeding later this month.
