Baseball Preview: #11 East Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C.- UNCW wraps up a five-game homestand Tuesday night when it hosts longtime rival East Carolina in the first of the annual home-and-home series with the Pirates. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

The Seahawks (9-7) are coming off a sweep of defending Atlantic 10 regular season champion Saint Joseph's, with all three wins being decided in the final two innings of each game.

On Sunday, the Seahawks rallied with four runs in the bottom of the ninth with two outs to finish off a sweep of visiting Saint Joseph's. The Pirates (11-4-1), meanwhile, swept Liberty in Lynchburg last weekend.

Tanner Thach was named Player of the Week by the Coastal Athletic Association following a torrid week at the plate. The sophomore hit .636 with five home runs and drove in nine runs.

The Seahawks visit Charlotte this weekend for a three-game series against the 49ers, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
