Bechtel Knocks In Three In Loss At UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Jake Bechtel, one of three Seahawks with two hits, knocked in three runs on a double and a home run, but UNCW couldn't overcome seven runs in the first two innings in a 14-5 loss at North Carolina on Tuesday.

The Tar Heels, who were ranked as high as third in the national polls this week, improved to 31-6-1 while the Seahawks fell to 20-16.

Cooper Nicholson's three-run homer in the first gave the Tar Heels a 4-0 lead.

Jackson Rose (3-1) held the Seahawks to a run on four hits, and he struck out eight in five innings of work.

Matous Bubenik and Mason Hughes collected two hits a piece for the Seahawks.

UNCW starter Alex Sobol (0-3) took the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, in 0.2 innings.

UNCW returns to conference play this weekend, beginning Friday at 6 p.m. against visiting Hofstra.
