LYNCHBURG, Virginia – Sophomore Summer Herbertson placed first in the women's indoor 3,000 Meters to lead UNCW at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex on Friday and Saturday.
 
The Seahawks competed in their sixth meet this season and the final tune-up before the CAA Indoor Championships are held from Feb. 22-23 in New York City.
 
Herbertson clocked a 10:22.94 time in the 3,000 Meter Run Open to top the 16 runners in the event's field.
 
Junior Nasiah Ferguson (2nd - 39.35) and senior Mackenzie Townsend (3rd - 39.48) trailed only Gia Trevisan, who ran unattached, in the Women's 300 Dash Finals. Other runner-ups included Janiyah Fields in the 400 Meter Dash Open with a 57.32 time.
