Montanari Places Third in 60 Meter Hurdles

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Sophomore Brylee Montanari placed third in the 60 Meter Hurdles as the UNCW women's indoor track and field team resumed its season Saturday at the Dick Taylor Challenge on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
 
The Seahawks competed in their second meet of the 2023-24 season against a field that included several in-state schools such as Campbell, Charlotte, Duke, High Point, NC Central, Wake Forest and the host Tar Heels at the Eddie Smith Field House.
 
Montanari clocked a 9.02 time in the 60 Meter Hurdles prelims before shaving ticks off her time with an 8.98 mark in the event finals.
 
Distance runners Summer Herbertson (5:17.11), Claire Carmichael (5:35.62) and Taylor Rand (5:36.05) placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the one mile run.
 
Freshman Emma Crozier-Carole, fresh off a fourth-place finish in the pentathlon on Thursday at Liberty, was third amongst 14 competitors in the long jump with a 17-06.25 leap.
 
UNCW resumes its season at the VMI Winter Classic from Jan. 26-27.
