Volleyball Programs Honored With USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's indoor and beach volleyball programs were recognized as USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award recipients following another strong year in the classroom.

The Seahawks finished in the top 20 percent of programs in the nation in grade point average to earn the recognition.

The indoor program has earned the distinction for the second straight year and the fifth time in the last six. Katie Lanz, who will return in the fall as a graduate student, earned Academic All-Region honors in the fall.

The beach program, meanwhile, also earned academic honors for the second consecutive year and sixth in the last seven. The Seahawks boasted five student-athletes who earned Academic All-Region honors and rising senior Ellie Bucci landed third-team Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators.
