Beach Volleyball Preview: at Osprey Beach Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Seahawks compete this weekend at the Osperey Beah Classic, hosted by North Florida, in Jacksonville, Fla., as UNCW begins to gear up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament later this month.

UNCW owns a 10-9 record on the season after going 1-3 last weekend against Charleston, Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville in a home tournament.

The Seahawks open this weekend on Friday at 8 a.m. against fellow Sun Belt member Mercer. The second dual of the day is at noon against 19th-ranked North Florida. That match will be the first of two against ranked opponents as UNCW opens Saturday against #13 FIU. UNCW concludes the tournament against Division II member, St. Leo.

Senior Ashley Thompson needs two wins to tie the program record for career wins with 50.

Thompson and Bri Haggerty were honored earlier this weekend as the SBC Pair of the Week, becoming the second Seahawk pairing to earn the honor this spring.
