Beach Volleyball Sees Season End With 3-2 Loss

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UNCW beach volleyball saw its season come to an end on Friday with a 3-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin in the elimination bracket of the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex.

The Seahawks concluded the season with a 15-14 record while The Lady Jacks advanced to a second elimination test with an 8-19 record.

The teams split the first two matches to finish with Bri Haggerty and Lyvia Trimp earning a straight-set win at the second pairing and SFA also winning in straight sets at the fourth pairing.

At the third pairing, Elli Bucci and Ashley Thompson gave the Seahawks a 2-1 lead with a 15-9 win in the third set.

SFA, however, won the final two matches taking both the fifth and first pairings in three sets.

Thompson, who fashioned a 23-6 record this season, finished her career as UNCW's career wins leader with 56. Her 23 wins were also the second most in a single season for the program.
