Thompson Two Wins From Tying Program Record

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW senior Ashley Thompson continued her march towards the program's career wins record on Sunday with two more wins as UNCW split a pair of duals with Jacksonville and the College of Charleston at Capt'n Bill's Backyard Bar and Grill.

The Seahawks moved their record to 10-9 on the season and closed out their home schedule with a 4-3 mark. Before the Charleston dual, the Seahawks honored and recognized their seniors Tyla Cutrie and Thompson.

Thompson, who now has 48 career wins, teamed with Bri Haggerty to win twice on Sunday. The duo, which plays at the third pairing, opened the day with a straight-set victory over Jacksonville and then posted a three-set victory against Charleston later in the day. Haggerty and Thompson are 8-0 playing at the third pairing.

Against JU, Maddy Folks and Jadyn Barry clinched a dual win with a three-set win.

In the last dual of the day, CofC clinched its second win over the Seahawks on the weekend with a close 21-18, 21-19 win at the top pairing.

UNCW visits Jacksonville, Fla., next weekend when they compete in the Osprey Beach Invitational on Apr. 7-8.
