Beach Volleyball Wins Both Duals On Friday

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Seahawks opened their Beach Bash appearance on Friday with a win over longtime Sun Belt Conference rival the College of Charleston and Erskine at the Creekside Tennis and Swim Club.

With the sweep, the Seahawks raised their record to 8-5 while CofC moved to 9-6 and Erskine to 2-14.

CofC and UNCW split their first two matches with Lyvia Trimp ad Ellie Bucci winning the third set, 16-14.

Kaley McLaughlin and Jadyn Barry gave UNCW a 2-1 advantage with a three-set win at the fifth pairing.

The Seahawks clinched the match at the third pairing behind a 24-22 and 23-21 win by Bri Haggerty and Ashley Thompson.

Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey provided the final margin of victory with a 21-18 and 21-19 win at the top pair.

The Seahawks dealt Erskine its 12th consecutive loss with a 5-0 sweep of the Flying Fleet. Sarah Thompson and Maddy Folks were pushed to a third set at the fourth pairing but prevailed, 15-9.

The Seahawks will play both Erskine and Charleston again on Saturday.
