Beach Volleyball Coasts To Doubleheader Sweep

SALISBURY, N.C. – UNCW got back on track on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Erskine and Catawba in college beach volleyball action at the Catawba Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Seahawks, who snapped a four-dual losing skid, improved to 3-4. Erskine dropped to 1-5 and Catawba to 3-8.

Against Erskine, UNCW coasted to a 5-0 win with all matches finishing in straight sets. Ellie Bucci and Lyvia Trimp fashioned a convincing 21-6, 21-14 win at the second pairing.

The Seahawks posted their second 5-0 decision of the afternoon against Catawba, whom they defeated earlier in the season by the same score. UNCW limited the Indians to 12 or fewer points in nine of the 10 sets played.

Ashley Thompson moved into a tie for sixth all-time in wins with 37 for the Seahawks and Bucci is now eighth with 32 wins. Sadie Sharkey also cracked the top-10 with 28 career wins.

UNCW hosts Eastern Kentucky on Mar. 15 in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
